CARLTON COUNTY PRIVATE WOODLAND
COUNCIL
Serving Carlton and Southern
St. Louis Counties
The Woodlands Council is a group of concerned citizens and representatives of industry and government that provide forestry education for stewardship and productivity to private landusers and the general public. We work closely with the Minnesota Forestry Association.
Programs of the Council are:
The Annual Arbor Tree Planting
About 400 Carlton County Fourth Graders learn how to plant trees, and the importance of trees in our daily lives.
Annual Tour
The Council invites the public to spend a day at a site of forestry activity where they can learn how to manage woodlands to achieve stewardship and productivity.
Conservation Education Field Days
About 400 Carlton County Fifth Graders travel to the U of M
Cloquet Forestry Center to learn about different aspects of the natural world
around them.
Stewardship Workshops
During the year the Council holds gatherings to learn about protecting their natural resources and getting the most our of their woodlands.
Woodland Advisor Training
The Council organizes these trainings for citizen volunteers, who then education their neighbors about forest stewardship.
ANYONE CAN PARTICIPATE ON THE COUNCIL. JUST SHOW UP AND HELP. YOUR TIME CAN BE USED TO FULFILL WOODLAND ADVISOR TRAINING VOLUNTEER HOUR COMMITMENTS.
